New Comics This Wednesday: September 23, 2026
Wednesday, September 23, brings Muppet mayhem, a new Enterprise mission, Cenobite romance, robot trouble, Hollywood noir, and a football game with much worse problems than the scoreboard. We pulled eight lively starting points from the verified shipment instead of turning the whole wall into a checklist.
Browse the complete September 23 release collection. After the Wednesday collection rollover, the Planet Comics hub is the stable place to keep browsing.
The Muppets Take the Marvel Universe #1
The Muppets collide with Marvel, and the setup is exactly as cheerfully chaotic as it should be: Rowlf gets kidnapped by Mojo while Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Emma Frost mount the rescue. Chip Zdarsky leads the creative team, with Bunsen and Beaker getting dangerously close to gamma rays and Pym particles.
Reader fit: Start here if you want a bright, self-contained crossover or comics that are happy to be very silly in public.
Hellraiser: Resurrections — Hell’s Council #1
Butterball survived, and now a mysterious caretaker is nursing the wounded Cenobite back to health while working her way into his head—and perhaps his heart. Nero Villagallos O’Reilly and Francesca Ciregia open a sequence of one-shots that reconnects Hellraiser’s past to its next ongoing series.
Reader fit: For horror readers who like their body horror tangled up with an unexpectedly personal question: who is saving whom?
Star Trek #1
Captain Seven of Nine takes the Enterprise-G beyond the familiar quadrants to relocate the Avuran people. Three apparently perfect worlds are waiting—but vanished structures, time skips, and impossible artifacts make paradise look carefully staged. Christopher Cantwell and Dennis Menheere launch the new mystery.
Reader fit: A clean boarding point for Trek readers who want exploration, strange-world puzzles, and a crew that has not learned to trust itself yet.
Mega Man: Gear Masters #1
Mega Man gets Dr. Light’s prototype Double Gear system just as a new group of Robot Masters arrives. The complication is wonderfully direct: Dr. Wily created the technology, and he wants it back.
Reader fit: An easy first issue for classic Mega Man fans, younger action readers, or anyone who prefers their engineering disputes settled by enormous robot fights.
Six of Us #1
Six actors built a beloved sitcom; then one of them died under mysterious circumstances. Tom King, Gabriel Hernández Walta, and Jordie Bellaire turn the surviving cast’s old rivalries and buried secrets into a Hollywood noir about grief, ambition, and performance.
Reader fit: Try this if you liked the team’s work on The Vision or want a murder mystery where everybody already knows how to play to a camera.
Escape from New York: Escape from Chicago #1
Snake Plissken is smuggling people and contraband through the dead zones between prison territories when a job sends him after a woman wanted by Chicago’s warlord. Kyle Higgins and Val Rodrigues open the door to a new corner of the franchise’s battered future.
Reader fit: For readers who want a hard-edged extraction job, dystopian road trouble, and a lead who expects the universe to kick him on the way out.
Razor Gray #1
On an icy planet, an ambitious architect investigates alien relics and finds something capable of changing human history. Nir Levie writes and draws a four-issue science-fiction story built around the danger of curiosity.
Reader fit: A good bet for readers who want big, chilly science fiction, impossible ruins, and one creator controlling the whole strange machine.
Smile: Any Given Smile #1
A championship football game, a sudden-star backup quarterback, gambling debts, and a string of deaths collide in 1995 St. Augustine. Stephanie Williams and Pablo Collar bring the Smile franchise onto the field while a sports journalist looks for the connection nobody wants found.
Reader fit: Pick this if sports pressure, crime reporting, and reality-warping horror sound like a particularly mean Sunday afternoon.
