Voice of Command (Hardback) — An Astra Militarum novel by Richard Swan.
Overview
Saint Stanislava's Adoration, once the crown settlement of Nymea in the Maelstrom Zone, lies in ruin after being overrun by devotees of Chaos. The 2002nd Cadian Mechanised Regiment, commanded by Colonel Gabriel "Venom" Velterson, must hold the line against the Archenemy while navigating the unforgiving demands of the Imperial war machine.
The Story
After two years of gradual counterattacks to reclaim the planet, Adoration is the final contested stronghold between Imperial forces and a broader victory. Velterson's unit faces not only the enemy within the ruins but also environmental hazards and systemic obstacles: a strange blue star that bathes troops in toxic light, heretical broadcasts on a compromised vox-network, quarantines imposed by the Inquisition, and local Nymean commanders whose decisions jeopardize the regiment's effectiveness. As the decisive assault approaches, the regiment confronts whether the battle for Adoration will conclude the campaign—or cost them their existence.
Why Read It
This novel explores the endurance of frontline soldiers under extreme conditions and the harsh realities of an indifferent Imperium, set against a collapsing shrine-city and a desperate military campaign.
